Jacob Tanner Memorial Scholarship

1 Timothy 4:12

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and purity.

About Jacob

Jacob Tate Tanner was born on 10/20/1999 and grew up in Dallas, Ga.  From a very young age Jacob’s smile could light up a room and he had a laugh that was so contagious.  Jacob had a very easy going personality and he connected with everyone he came in contact with.  Jacob loved his family, his girlfriend, his friends, his church, his job but above everything he loved the Lord.  His deep rooted faith was very inspiring and impactful to us as his parents but to many others as well.  Sadly, Jacob passed away in a car accident on 9/3/2020.
When Jacob was in middle school he was invited to church by a close friend and that started the path of what he wanted to do with his life.  After attending regularly, he felt a calling on his life to get into ministry.  Jacob later graduated high school with honors and at that time was doing an internship with the church and student ministry.  He was accepted into Kennesaw State University and was studying for a history degree and dreamed of later attending seminary school and hoped to one day become a pastor.  At the time of Jacob’s passing he was a junior at KSU and was the youth director at our church.
Jacob was passionate about many things including: hiking, the outdoors, kayaking, road trips, photography, and reading.  He was a firm believer in trying new things and he always approached everything with such excitement and gave 100% percent.  He also believed in furthering your education and therefore, we felt the best way to honor Jacob was to start a scholarship in his honor to help students in a small way to follow their dreams and passions.
